What is a Giclée?
The term giclée is used to describe an individually produced, high resolution, high tech reproduction utilizing state of the art large-format printers. The quality of the printing process rivals traditional silver-halide and gelatine printing processes and is commonly found in museums, art and photographic galleries. This art form is considered an elevation in the printmaking process and a contemporary, accepted form of art reproduction.

It's Tea Time!
Just imagine 13,000 voices on Signal Hill singing the Ode to Newfoundland on July 1st. It’s Canada Day, it’s Memorial Day…it’s the first day of Festival 500!
Festival 500 has developed a unique and exciting fundraising initiative aimed at introducing and engaging the general public in the activities of Festival 500 – a tea party!
Here is how it works:
The Festival Tea Party debuted Monday, January 29, 2007 at the Festival 500 launch at the Johnson Geo Centre. There, a handful of festival supporters attended the first Festival tea party. The host - the Chair of the Board of Directors for Festival 500 - invited seven guests to join him for tea and song. Each of these seven invited guests donated a minimum of $10.00 to Festival 500 and in turn agreed to host a future tea party of their own.
The seven hosts invited six guests to attend, who also donated a minimum of $10.00. These six will invite five, five invite four, four invite three and so on. Ultimately the end result will be a total of 13,000 participants taking part in a Festival Tea Party and coming together to share their voices on July 1st to begin Canada Day for an exciting rendition of the Ode to Newfoundland.
While the theme of each Tea Party will vary from host to host (creativity is encouraged!) there are four basic rules that each host participant must follow:
- Each host/participant will make a minimum donation of $10.00 to Festival 500
- Each host/participant will commit to organizing and hosting their own Tea Party on behalf of the Festival
- Each host/participant agrees to end their Tea Party with an invitation to their guests to join in learning and singing the Ode to Newfoundland.
- Each host/participant, if possible, will agree to Share our Voices in the Ode to Newfoundland for the last Tea Party on July 1st, at the Sunrise Service on Signal Hill
We hope you have a wonderful time at your tea party! If you would like to share with us your tea party ideas, pictures or stories, contact information@festival500.com.
