FESTIVAL 500 hosts a regional component on the West Coast of Newfoundland. This three-day festival offers participants workshops, the opportunity to sing in a massed choir, and performance opportunities. A Massed Youth Choir and a Massed Adult Choir under the direction of guest conductors Ki Adams and Anthony Barresi, respectively, will perform on the final concert along with invited guests, Ac•Rock. Performances take place in Corner Brook, Port au Port and surrounding areas.

Massed Youth Choir Director

Ki AdamsKi Adams, a native of Birmingham, Alabama, is an Associate Professor in Music Education and Organ at Memorial University of Newfoundland. A Founding Artistic Director of Festival 500, he is Co-Director of the festival’s Phenomenon of Singing International Symposium. Ki is Music Director at St. Thomas’ Anglican Church and has recently retired after 14 years as Associate Conductor and Accompanist of Shallaway (formerly NSYC). He is one of the national Directors of the Association of Canadian Choral Conductors.

Massed Adult Choir Director

Anthony Barresi (United States)Anthony Barresi is a Professoer Emeritus from the University of Wisconsin-Madison were he taught graduate and undergraduate courses in music education, vocal techniques, choral conducting, and was conductor of the University Chorus. For two years before his retirement in 2000, he served as the Associate Director of the University of Wisconsin School of Music. (read more...)
